Charles Manson.... the Musician?

"He had this kind of music that nobody else was doing. I thought he really had something crazy, something great. He was like a living poet." -Neil Young on Charles Manson the musician!

I found out pretty recently to my complete surprise that Charles Manson, the famous murderer whom I'm sure you've all heard of, was actually an aspiring musician before he became a very influential and powerful cult leader and committed all those murders.

But plenty of people aspire to be musicians... big deal right? Well Manson wasn't just some aspiring musician, he actually wrote a few songs for The Beach Boys (yes, a crazed murderer wrote The Beach Boy material) and became good friends at one point with Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys. In fact, if you had just overheard these few tracks of his I will post for you, I'm sure you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between him and any other folk artist. His material content-wise is actually quite the opposite of what the public lifestyle we know him for as.

Another funny thing is that Phil Spektor (another murderer and famous producer ) just got transferred to the same prison as Manson, and apparently, Manson has been trying to contact him in order to work something out musically... Spektor apparently has been freaked out by the idea and denied Manson a collaboration...

check it out, and believe it or not, maybe, enjoy.
